Motorists warned of heavy rain and sleet by Hampshire police
Motorists across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are being warned by police of predicted heavy rain and sleet later.
The Met Office is forecasting that rain will spread in from the South West through into Friday morning.
Rainfall will be heaviest across the Isle of Wight and south Hampshire and there is a chance of sleet in the north of the county on Friday.
Winds of up to 70mph were predicted for southern coastal areas but this has now been revised down to 50mph.
Ch Insp Duncan Weston, of Hampshire Constabulary, said: "The forecast is now looking less severe, but there's still a chance we'll see some disruption as a result of tonight's predicted heavy rain."
He urged motorists to plan extra time for journeys and keep their speed down to avoid skidding over surface water.
