Southampton armed robberies: Man and two women arrested

A man and two women have been arrested after a spate of armed robberies in Southampton on Thursday.

CCTV images show a man wearing thick-rimmed glasses and a beanie-style hat threatening staff at convenience stores with a handgun.

Four armed robberies took place from about 14:45 to 21:30 GMT. Hampshire Constabulary said a man left with more than £400 in total.

No one was injured during the incidents and police are appealing for witnesses.

The first robbery took place at a Spar shop in Sholing Road where the man left with about £400.

Then three other armed robberies happened in quick succession.

One took place just before 20:00 at a Co-op on Tickleford Drive, Newtown where no money was taken, and another at 20:30 at a pizza shop in Deacon Road where approximately £15 was snatched.

The final one happened in McColls in Montague Road at around 21:30 where again nothing was taken.

Police said they are linking all four robberies.

A 41-year-old man from Gosport, a 31-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman, both from Southampton, have all been arrested on suspicion of armed robbery.
