Cowes lifeboat tows drifting yacht to safety

A yacht drifting in darkness near the Isle of Wight has been towed to safety by a Cowes RNLI lifeboat.

The crew of the yacht, Poohstix, told Solent Coastguards they were unable to make progress because of lack of wind and engine failure.

The lifeboat, with Simon Hawkins at the helm, found the yacht and towed it to Shepards Wharf Marina in Cowes.

It had originally set off from Haslar in Gosport on its way to Bucklers Hard on the Beaulieu River in Hampshire.

Three men and a woman were on board.
