Man's body is found washed up on Hayling Island beach

A man's decomposed body has been found washed up on a beach in Hampshire.

A member of the pubic made the discovery at 08:56 GMT at the junction of Southwood Road and Bosmere Road on Hayling Island seafront.

Police said the body was that of a white man thought to be aged between 50 and 60, and initial accounts suggest it had been in the water for some time.

Detectives said they were not yet able to state whether the death was being treated as suspicious or not.

They are following up a number of lines of inquiry to establish the man's identity.
