Man killed as vehicle hits tree in Hampshire

A man was killed when the vehicle he was travelling in left the road and hit a tree in Hampshire.

The collision happened on the westbound carriageway of the A272, at West Meon, Petersfield, just before 05:00 GMT.

The victim died at the scene of the accident, a spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said.

The A272 at Kitts Lane, east of Bramdean, to West Meon Hut crossroads is closed while the vehicle is recovered and police examine the scene.
