Driver in fatal West Meon crash named as Peter Lonsdale

A driver killed when his car left the road and struck a tree in Hampshire has been named.

Peter Lonsdale, 45, of Gosport, was killed instantly when his Citroen left the westbound A272, at West Meon, Petersfield, early on Tuesday.

The stretch of road near the West Meon Hut crossroads was closed for 11 hours while the vehicle was recovered and the road cleared of debris.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.
