Man arrested over £8.5m cocaine seizure in Portsmouth

A man has been arrested following the seizure of cocaine with a street value of £8.5m in Portsmouth.

The UK Border Force said the haul was found in a lorry which arrived on a ferry from St Malo in Brittany last Wednesday.

Weighing 187lb (85kg), the drugs had a potential value of approximately £8.5 million when cut and sold on the street, the agency said.

The man, aged 42 from Worcestershire, was bailed until 10 July.
