Burst water main disrupts Southampton supply

Thousands of homes in Southampton were without water after a main burst.

Southern Water said the supply to about 2,000 homes in the Redbridge and Millbrook areas was cut off in the early hours after a pipe burst in Redbridge Road.

The company said supplies would gradually return to normal as the main had been repaired.

However it added that some customers may experience discoloured water at first.

A spokesperson said: "This is not harmful however. In this event customers are advised to run their kitchen tap until the water runs clear."
