Grenade from WWII taken into Alton police station
A World War II hand grenade was taken to a Hampshire police station by a member of the public, the force said.
Hampshire police had to call for support from the Army after the device was taken to Alton police station at about 21:00 GMT on Friday night.
The grenade, which contained explosive material, was safely removed.
A police spokesman said: "Although the risk to the public was low the grenade was found to contain an amount of explosives."
The area was secured by local officers while specialist advice was sought and the grenade was then removed by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit.
