National Express coach driver held after fatal crash

A National Express coach driver has been arrested following the death of a woman in a collision in Hampshire.

The crash between the coach and a Volkswagen Polo happened on the southbound carriageway of the A3 at Longmoor on Monday afternoon.

The 78-year-old driver of the Polo was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham but died from her injuries.

The coach driver, a 32-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention.

He has been released on bail, Hampshire police said.

A 12-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car was unhurt. One of the 29 passengers on the coach suffered whiplash injuries in the crash, which happened shortly before 17:00 BST.

The southbound carriageway was closed until 21:00 BST while officers inspected the scene.
