Man sexually assaulted by another man in Petersfield park

A man was subjected to a serious sexual assault as he walked through a park in Hampshire.

The 27-year-old was walking in the Heath in Petersfield at about 21:00 BST on Friday when he was approached by another man.

Police said they were investigating the exact nature of the attack and if he was raped.

They are looking into whether other men were involved and appealed for anyone who saw anything to contact police.

'Extremely rare'

Det Insp Jane Hart said: "This was a violent and unprovoked attack which has left the victim completely devastated.

"We have a team of detectives working on this investigation and there are also officers conducting patrols in the area.

"However, I would like to reassure people that incidents like this are extremely rare.

"This area is very popular with dog walkers so there may have been people using the Heath around the time of this incident who may have seen something."
