Coach evacuated after catching fire on M27 motorway

A coach carrying 50 people had to be evacuated after it caught fire on the M27 motorway in Hampshire.

The fire service said the vehicle pulled over on the hard shoulder of the eastbound carriageway near Rownhams just before 19:00 GMT on Saturday.

A spokeswoman said the coach was "well-alight" when firefighters arrived.

The engine and luggage compartment were destroyed and the inside of the vehicle was damaged by smoke.

There were no reports of any injuries.
