Police investigating an armed robbery near a Hampshire railway station on Wednesday have issued a description of a man they want to talk to.

A man was forced into his Porsche 911 Carrera at gunpoint outside Brockenhurst station at 06:30 GMT.

The 64-year-old was then made to withdraw a large quantity of cash from the town's HSBC branch before being forced from his car in Rhinefield Road.

It was later found abandoned by a track near the railway line on Sway Road.

Police said they were looking for a white man, aged between 48 and 52, with a ruddy complexion.

'Frightening experience'

Described as 5ft 10in tall and of slim build, he was wearing a black balaclava, black jacket, dark trousers and dark cross trainers. He spoke with a local accent.

The suspect is believed to have approached the victim in the station's southern side car park.

Det Insp Sarah White, from British Transport Police, said: "We will be checking whether all or part of the incident was captured on CCTV.

"Despite what was clearly an extremely frightening experience, it is to the victim's credit that he managed to remain composed enough to contact police and provide us with a detailed description of the offender.

"We know there would have been passengers at the station at the time and want to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or who saw anyone matching the description acting suspiciously in the area."
