Cat shot near Isle of Wight school
Police are trying to find a person who shot a cat near an Isle of Wight school.
The 13-year-old grey and white pet is thought to have been shot with an air weapon, possibly a .22 calibre pellet, near Ryde High School on Tuesday.
It was found injured in Pellhurst Road and was taken to a vet, where it was immediately put down.
Police urged witnesses, or anyone who knows about it, to contact them.
PC Benjamin Burfitt said: "A defenceless animal and loved pet has suffered horrific internal injuries as the result of being shot.
"It is believed that many people may have been around as this is a busy part of the day in an area near to a school grounds."
