Pedestrian, 87, struck by car in Gosport dies

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Hampshire.

The 87-year-old man was struck by a Ford Focus outside the Clarence Wharf Industrial Estate on Mumby Road, Gosport, at about 08:15 BST.

He suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital where he later died.

The driver, a 36-year-old woman from Gosport, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and remains in custody. She was uninjured.

Police want to hear from anyone who saw the collision, or the vehicle or the pedestrian before it happened.
