Gosport girls' road deaths: Samuel Etherington remanded
A man accused of killing two teenage girls by driving into them has been remanded in custody.
Jasmine Allsop, 14, and Olivia Lewry, 16, were hit by a Honda Civic in the early hours of Sunday while walking in Gosport, Hampshire.
Samuel Etherington, 20, from Gosport, appeared at Winchester Crown Court charged with two counts of manslaughter.
He was remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing on 3 January.
Mr Etherington, an unemployed sports coach, spoke only to confirm his name during the five-minute preliminary hearing. There was no application for bail.
Police were called to Ann's Hill Road in Gosport early on Sunday.
Jasmine died at the scene while Olivia died later after being taken to hospital.
