Woman, 18, raped in Holbury alleyway

An 18-year-old woman was raped after being "grabbed" by a man in an alleyway in Holbury, Hampshire, police said.

The teenager was assaulted at about 20:00 GMT on Sunday in an alleyway between Studley Avenue and Oakley Close.

The attacker is described as being aged 20-30, of slim build and wearing dark clothing.

The woman was hit by the man before he made off leaving her "dazed" and with bruising to her head, officers said.

'Extra patrols'

Det Insp Dave Nealon said he wanted to speak to anyone who had seen a man matching the description of the attacker around the time of the incident.

He said: "Attacks like this are very rare, especially in the New Forest, and we want to find the man responsible as soon as possible.

"We are currently speaking with the victim to ascertain any more information about what happened."

He said extra patrols were operating in the area and officers were carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
