A second man has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman found dead in the New Forest.

Penelope Davis, 47, known as Pennie, was found stabbed to death in a field at Leygreen Farm, Beaulieu, where she was tending to her horses.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in Southampton at 19:50 BST and is in police custody.

A 22-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail.

Mrs Davis, a mother of five, died of multiple stab wounds, a post-mortem examination found. Her body was discovered by her husband Pete on 2 September.

Hampshire Constabulary said the supermarket worker may have been followed from Sainsbury's in Hampton Lane, Blackfield.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who saw Mrs Davis's dark green Toyota Land Cruiser travelling between the supermarket and the field at Leygreen Farm between those times.

Crimestoppers has offered a £5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the killer.
