Southampton ambulance worker attacked by patient
A man has been arrested after an ambulance technician was attacked by a patient.
The 999 worker was responding to a report of a medical emergency at the junction of Milton Road and Holt Road in Southampton on Sunday night.
He tried to treat him but was assaulted. South Central Ambulance Service said he suffered a serious head injury and is in hospital.
A 26-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed.
The ambulance service said the technician was from a private provider.
A spokeswoman said: "We would like to wish the member of staff a quick recovery.
"Any incidents of assault towards all staff are completely unacceptable and as such we are assisting Hampshire Police with their enquiries into this investigation."
