Residents had to be evacuated from a care home on Christmas Day after it became severely flooded.

Both floors of the South Africa Lodge, on Stakes Hill Road, in Waterlooville, Hampshire, were affected by flood water from the building's roof maintenance area.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, which was called out shortly after 06:00 GMT, used wet and dry vacuum cleaners to deal with the flood.

A total of 11 residents were evacuated.

They were safely moved to alternative lodgings, a spokeswoman said.
