A fire that destroyed a thatched bungalow in a Hampshire village is being treated as arson.

The house, on a secluded lane between Four Marks and Alton, near Winchester, was unoccupied when the fire broke out at 21:30 GMT on 3 March.

Hampshire Police said the building was deliberately set on fire.

It took more than 30 firefighters from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service almost four hours to bring the fire under control.

PC Alexander Hall, of Hampshire Constabulary, said: "The house was completely destroyed in the fire and it was fortunate that it was unoccupied at the time.

"I am keen to hear from witnesses who may have seen a vehicle or person around that location at the relevant time."
