Man remanded over two Southampton hotel fires

A man has been remanded in custody after appearing before magistrates in connection with fires at two Southampton city centre hotels.

Colin Clarke, 36, of no fixed abode, is charged with two counts of arson with intent, one count of arson and one count of attempted arson.

It follows fires at Jury's Inn hotel in Charlotte Place, on Thursday and at Premier Inn, Six Dials, on Friday.

Mr Clarke will reappear before Southampton Crown Court on 15 May.
