A fatal crash involving two vehicles has closed the main road through a Hampshire village.

A 22-year-old man died and a 56-year-old man suffered leg injuries in the crash between a Ford Fiesta and a Vauxhall Antara on A339, near Kingsclere, at about 07:15 BST.

Next of kin have been informed. The injured man was taken to hospital.

Officers are appealing for witnesses. The road is closed in both directions and diversions are in place.

Police said they were "particularly keen" to talk to the owner of a silver vehicle possibly parked in a lay-by on the A339 and seen flashing its headlights to oncoming traffic after the crash.
