Extra time to quiz Basingstoke murder suspects

Police have been given more time to question three men on suspicion of murder following a deadly street attack in Hampshire.

Dean Anthony Evans, 31, from Kempshott, was found lying in Benham Road, Basingstoke, shortly before 05:30 BST on Friday.

He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

Two 22-year-old men and a 20-year-old man, all from Basingstoke, are being quizzed over the death.

Hampshire Constabulary said detectives had been granted an additional 30 hours on Saturday to hold the men for questioning.

They now have until midnight to charge the men or release them.

Police described the assault as "an isolated incident".
