A woman who died after being hit by a lorry on a street in Southampton was "a well-loved lady of the community", her family has said.

Enid Everill, better known by her middle name Mavis, died in hospital after being struck on Bridge Road in Woolston on Friday lunchtime.

In a statement, the 61-year-old grandmother's family added: "All her family are lost without her and she will be sorely missed."

Police have appealed for witnesses.

"She was a very special lady who would help anyone. She never moaned or grumbled and never expected anything in return," her family added.
