Winchester City Council executive to leave post

The chief executive of Winchester City Council is to leave after 13 years in the post.

Simon Eden announced that he was stepping down from the position at the authority's cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Cllr Stephen Godfrey, leader of the council, said: "I am saddened by the news. Simon has served Winchester with great distinction."

Mr Eden is expected to formally stand down in September.
