Fire has wrecked a commercial garage on the Isle of Wight.

The blaze broke out shortly before 14:00 BST at the two-storey building in Castle Road, Wroxall, near Ventnor.

At one stage crews were forced to withdraw from part of the building because of the danger posed by acetylene cylinders on the site.

The fire was brought under control by 17:00 BST and crews remained there damping down to ensure the cylinders remained cool.

At the height of the blaze there were 10 fire engines at the site, which is home to several businesses.

Station Road and Castle Street were closed and residents advised to stay indoors.

Hampshire Constabulary said a 25m (27 yard) cordon had also been put in place.
