A blaze that broke out at a Portsmouth recycling plant has been burning for more than six hours.

Crews have been tackling the fire at GHS Recycling on the Shawcross Industrial Park off Ackworth Road in Hilsea, since just after 08:00 BST.

About 40 firefighters are at the scene and residents were told to close doors and windows because of thick smoke.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the type of material that caught fire was not yet known.
