Attempted murder arrest after Hayling Island stabbing

A 48-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing outside a pub, police said.

Officers made the arrest shortly after midnight after a 47-year-old man was found with a stab wound outside the West Town Inn in Station Road, on Hayling Island, Hampshire.

The injured man, from Havant, was taken to hospital and remains in a "critical but stable condition".

The arrested man, from Hayling Island, is in police custody.

Det Insp Dave West said the force had spoken to "a number of witnesses" but appealed for more people to come forward.

He added: "We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the pub between 11pm and 12.10am."
