Police warn of bogus calls in north Worcestershire

Police have warned residents in north Worcestershire after a number of homes received phone calls from people trying to obtain personal details.

Several complaints were made to officers about calls from people claiming to be involved in the refunding of bank charges.

Complaints came from Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and Stourport.

A Rubery man reported two incidents to police after callers tried to get him to reveal personal information.

Det Insp Robert Bruce said: "Often identity theft is the underlying aim.

"Our message is very simple, do not give personal details, especially not bank details, in response to telephone calls from people you do not know."
