Tonnes of metal stolen from yard near Kington

Thieves have stolen about three-and-a-half tonnes of copper and lead from a scrapyard in Herefordshire.

West Mercia Police said they gained access to the business on Hergest Road, near Kington, overnight on Monday.

The offenders drove across a field next to the yard and stole the metal, worth an estimated £3,500, from an outbuilding.

A trailer was also stolen which may have been used to steal the metal, the spokesman added.
