Hereford soldier's name added to memorial
The name of a soldier from Hereford has been added to the war memorial at his parish church a year after his death in Afghanistan.
L/Cpl Daniel Cooper, 21, of 3rd Battalion The Rifles, died as he tried to clear a path south of the Sangin district in northern Helmand.
He was killed unlawfully by insurgents, a coroner recorded in November.
L/Cpl Cooper is being commemorated on a war memorial at St Martin's church in the city.
More than 1,000 mourners gathered to pay their respects to him, when his funeral was held with full military honours at Hereford Cathedral.
The inquest, held at Hereford Town Hall, heard he had been looking for improvised explosive devices when one exploded in January 2010.
