Pedestrian killed in Hereford timber spill

A man was killed and a woman seriously injured when a lorry shed a load of timber building supplies.

Police said the man and woman had been walking along Belmont Road, Hereford, on Monday morning when the accident happened.

The heavy goods vehicle shed its load close to the railway bridge.

A man in his 20s was declared dead on arrival in hospital. A woman, in her 20s, remains in a critical condition.

West Mercia Police said police were working at the scene to try to work out what had happened.

A number of passers-by stopped at the scene to help, West Midlands Ambulance said.
