Deaths of man and woman in Worcestershire spark murder inquiry

Police investigating the death of a woman at her Worcestershire home and the death of a man found by a car park say they have started a murder inquiry.

Sarah Fernandes-Mason, 39, was found at her home in Malvern on 4 February and following post-mortem results, police have opened a murder investigation.

Earlier that day, Aaron Stewart from Malvern, was found with head wounds outside a shopping centre in Worcester.

The incidents are linked but officers are not looking for anyone else.

Mr Stewart, 28, died later in hospital after he was found by the CrownGate shopping centre in Worcester.

'Linked but isolated'

His death is being treated as unexplained, police said.

Police said they were unable to confirm Ms Fernandes-Mason's cause of death.

They added the pair had been in a relationship.

Det Insp Jon Wallis said: "After results of a post-mortem examination, we can confirm that we have launched a murder investigation into the death of Sarah Fernandes-Mason.

"Aaron Stewart's death is still being treated as an unexplained death, but we would like to reassure people that these are linked but isolated incidents and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with them."

Last week, Ms Fernandes-Mason's 16-year-old daughter, Ayeisha, paid tribute to her.

She said she was a free spirit who loved to travel and described her as a "loving daughter and mother who always put others before herself".
