Fake vodka factory uncovered in Worcestershire
Thousands of litres of counterfeit alcohol have been seized at an industrial unit in Worcestershire.
The alcohol production and bottling plant near the Warwickshire border was discovered during a raid by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) officers.
Over 11,400 litres of illegal alcohol was ready to be bottled and sold as vodka.
Samples have been sent for analysis and two people were arrested on suspicion of duty evasion.
The plant near Alcester was dismantled and all the equipment was removed during the operation.
A HMRC spokesman said: "We look for these sites and when we find them we can shut them down. Had we not found this one the duty evaded would have been about £119,000."
Each year the revenue lost to alcohol fraud on spirits is an estimated £300m.
