Robber armed with pool cue attacks Redditch shop staff

A robber armed with a pool cue attacked two people working at a convenience store in Worcestershire.

The man, who covered his face with a hood and stocking, entered Kap Stores in Astley Close, Woodrow, Redditch, at about 1620 BST on Thursday.

He attacked a man and a woman working behind the counter with the cue and bottles he grabbed from the shelves before stealing alcohol and fleeing.

The victims went to Alexandra hospital, Redditch, with head and hand injuries.

Det Con Andy Baxter said: "This was a sustained and violent attack on the two people working at the store and it is fortunate their injuries were not more serious."

Police said the offender was about 5ft 10in tall and wore a dark blue, three-quarter length coat, dark blue tracksuit bottoms and black, ankle-high work boots.
