Driver admits Belmont Road lorry timber deaths

A lorry driver has admitted causing the deaths of a young couple when his vehicle shed its load of timber.

Tom Matts and Terri-Ann Barnett had just dropped their baby son off at nursery when the lorry hit a bridge in Belmont Road in Hereford on 7 February.

Graham Morgan, 49, of Monnow Crescent, Hereford, admitted two counts of causing death by careless driving at Hereford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

He will be sentenced next month.

Mr Matts died in hospital after the incident and Miss Barnett died a day later.

The couple lived on Broxash Drive in Hereford with their son Morgan.
