Music festivals in Herefordshire & Worcestershire 2011

10 - 12 June: ArleyFest

This is a new festival to raise funds for Arley Village Hall.

Award-winning folk-rocker Seth Lakeman is headlining, with Scott Matthews, Cantaloop and Naked Remedy also performing sets.

Robert Plant has also donated a signed guitar which will also be auctioned at the event.

17 - 19 June: Linton Music Festival

This year's event features Slowburner, Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash, The Manfreds and Oysterband.

The event began with people taking coach trips to see the big names - and they worked out it might be cheaper to bring the big names here!

24 - 26 June: Upton Jazz Festival

On Fish Meadow and in Upton town, nestling beneath the Malvern Hills, you can be sure of a weekend of great music, fun and good company.

Moor your boat, park your van or pitch your tent on the campsite beside the River Severn in beautiful Worcestershire and walk to the Jazz.

This is one of the firmest fixtures in Worcestershire's music calendar and is internationally renowned.

25 June: MiniFest

The annual MiniFest community festival is returning to Cripplegate Park in Worcester.

Last year's event saw more than 2,000 people come together to enjoy live music by some of the best local young acts.

June's Wild West themed event features two stages, even more bands, refreshments, and lots of activities for the whole community.

2 - 16 July: Droitwich Music Festival

This event runs over two weekends with many local acts performing on street stages around the town centre.

Last year, Tina V, Laura Broad and The Crooked Empire were just some of the local acts on the line-up.

Organisations and charities are invited to raise funds during that fortnight by staging their own events.

9 July: WestFest

This is an annual festival which takes place in West Malvern which promotes, encourages and showcases musicians, artists, craftspeople and performers from the local area.

West Fest is a non-profit organisation, with proceeds distributed to worthy organisations within the village.

It boasts 15 bands on two stages, 11 hours of continuous live music, plus arts and crafts stalls, beer tent, children's entertainment and much more.

10 July: Colwall Family Music Festival

This event takes place at the Colwall Cricket Club.

It's a new festival organised by Midland Audio close to the site of the Big Chill.

Stompin' on Spiders join a host of other local performers for this unique family event.

15 - 17 July: Bridge Bash

This is a three-day festival which takes place in the Teme Valley featuring live music, real ale and cider.

Ocean Colour Scene and Dodgy are headlining the event with more than 40 bands booked to play.

New for 2011 is the Acoustic Stage, a vintage double decker bus with its very own cocktail bar!

15 - 17 July: Upton Blues Festival

This event has grown each year and is now one of the largest free-admission festivals in the region.

The festival in previous years has had an in excess of 20,000 people attend over the three days.

Featured artists this year include The Official Receivers, The Fabulous Boogie Boys, Babajack and Gwyn Ashton.

29 - 31 July: Nozstock: The Hidden Valley

Now an established, leading family event in its 13th year, Nozstock is a sonic escape boasting eight main stages of entertainment with surprising sights and intimate, secluded areas of theatre and discovery to be unearthed.

BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester will be showcasing some of the very best musicians from across the region on our very own stage.

We'll be live from the event on the Friday and recording on the Saturday and Sunday with the sets being transmitted on Friday 5, 12, 19 and 26 August.

4 - 7 August: The Big Chill

The annual festival of alternative, dance and chill-out music and comedy, held in the grounds of Eastnor Castle during early August, returns under the same management as the Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds festivals.

This year's headliners include Kanye West, The Chemical Brothers, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Robert Plant.

BBC Introducing will be live from the event on the Friday - as we have done every year since we went on-air.

6 August: Mockfest

Mockfest is staged in a marquee which has its own sound system and lighting rig.

Turn Off The Sun, The Cohen Brothers, The Misers and Naked Remedy provide the original music at the gig in Inkberrow.

The tribute acts are Kings Ov Leon, The Secret Police and U2 Unforgettable Fire.

19 - 21 August: Pershore Jazz Festival

Over the two main days there are 32 sessions in four different venues.

As well as some festival favourites there are 18 bands making their first appearance.

Acts include John Hallam and the Remi Harris Trio.

19 - 21 August: Worcester Music Festival

This is an annual event that started in 2008 to support and encourage live, local and original music in Worcester and is staged in pubs, clubs, cafes, and historic buildings around or near the city centre.

Festival events take place at over 30 venues, with a line-up in the region of 200 bands and musicians.

Entry to the majority of venues is free of charge, with only a few exceptions.

9 - 11 September: Bromyard Folk Festival

The best folk festival/cultural event in the Welsh Border area, featuring more than 170 hours of entertainment in just one weekend of traditional music, song and dance.

Some of the most outstanding local, national and international traditional folk festival musicians will be performing in concert, ceilidhs and displays.

More than 75 events will be taking place throughout the town during the three-day event.

24 September: SnodFest

BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester will be showcasing some of the very best musicians from across the region on our very own stage.

It began as a means to raise money for a kids play area in Upton Snodsbury, where the festival is held.
