Wychavon Council plans to hire out part of civic centre

A Worcestershire council is considering hiring out part of its civic centre as a way of making money.

Wychavon District Council plans to relocate all its staff to one side of the building in Pershore to make this possible.

The proposal depends on the council spending £100,000 to improve the IT facilities in the building.

The council said this would also reduce its energy bill and computer hardware costs in the long run.

The authority said cabling in the 21-year-old building could no longer cope with the demands put on it by modern computers.

The council also said it could save money by changing to a computer-based telephone system, which would not be possible without the upgrade.
