Wood chip fire on industrial estate in Hereford

Nine fire crews have put out a fire involving 1,600 tonnes of wood chips in Herefordshire.

The fire broke out at 1703 BST on Wednesday at Wye Valley Metals, Fords Hill Road, Rotherwas, Hereford,

Crews went from Fownhope, Peterchurch, Ross, Eardisley, Leominster, Bromyard, Upton upon Severn and Worcester.

Specialist equipment including two aerial ladder platforms and compressed air foam appliances were taken in to tackle the fire.

The fire service was still at the scene damping down the wood chips at 0600 BST on Thursday.
