Herefordshire bus routes public consultation

Volunteer drivers may be used in some parts of Herefordshire, to link passengers with main bus routes.

The measure comes as the county's subsidised bus network faces "significant budget pressures".

Steve Burgess, from the council, said they hope to make savings by contract negotiations with bus operators.

"If we can't achieve all the savings we need we will need to know what people's priorities are if we have to look at any service reductions," he said.

The council is holding a public consultation over the future of subsided bus services.

They are also asking the public what they think of the idea of making more use of community transport services.

Currently the services use volunteer drivers to provide door to door transport for disadvantaged people.
