Herefordshire Council scraps mobile library service

A mobile library service in Herefordshire is to be scrapped.

The plans were announced earlier this month and the council said the libraries would be replaced with an increased home delivery service.

The service needed to be "viable and sustainable in the long term", the council said. The last deliveries will take place before the autumn.

The authority has said it is "fully committed" to keeping its permanent libraries open.

The council approved the plans at a meeting on Thursday evening.
