Motorist tries to abduct girl in Redditch

A car driver shouted he would "be back" for a 12-year-old girl after trying to grab her in a Worcestershire town.

She refused to give him her phone number after a black car with tinted rear windows pulled up on Batchley Road, Redditch, on Saturday evening.

The car returned as the girl walked into St David's Court. The driver tried to grab her, but she kicked out and ran off onto Cherry Tree Walk.

The man is described as Asian and in his early 20s, with spiky hair.

He was wearing a bright blue hooded top.

The girl was approaching the HDA social club, after running on to Cherry Tree Walk, when the driver said "I'll be back for you" before driving off.

West Mercia Police said it was "a frightening incident" for the girl, who "has been very shaken by it", but she did not suffer any physical injuries.

The car pulled up alongside her at about 2030 BST when the child was walking along Batchley Road close to a Spar shop.
