An elderly woman who suffered serious burns in a house fire in Herefordshire has died from her injuries.
A fire investigation has been launched after the fire at a property in Riverdale Park, Abbey Dore, shortly after 15:00 BST on Thursday.
A fire service spokesman said while the cause of the fire is now under investigation, it is believed that it started accidentally.
The woman was airlifted to hospital but died later from her injuries.
Group commander George Sherry, from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and then rescued an elderly female occupant.
'Very serious burns'
"They gave casualty care to the lady and then paramedics treated her at the scene.
"Sadly, it has been confirmed that the lady has died and our thoughts are very much with her family at this time."
An ambulance service spokeswoman said the woman had sustained very serious burns to the majority of her body.
She said: "Crews gave the woman pain relief and carefully assessed her extensive wounds before applying cooling burns dressings."
The woman was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, for emergency treatment at the hospital's speciality burns centre.
