Herefordshire HealthWatch launched to monitor NHS

An independent health watchdog run by volunteers is being launched in Herefordshire.

HealthWatch will scrutinise medical and social care as part of a national drive to make the NHS more accountable to patients.

Allan Lloyd, from the group, said: "The voice of the people is vital in enhancing health services."

Patricia Morgan, county council cabinet member for health, said it is an important addition to the county.

She said: "We want to create effective services, influenced and designed by local people and health care experts which meet the needs of patients in Herefordshire.

"HealthWatch will be a key partner to help us achieve that."
