CCTV monitoring in Worcester and Wychavon increased

Extra staff are monitoring CCTV cameras in Worcester city and towns in Wychavon after the recent England riots.

There are more than 100 cameras in both areas which are monitored 24 hours a day from Wychavon District Council in Pershore.

It is a temporary measure to provide extra support to West Mercia Police.

A spokesman from the council said: "We're increasing the number of eyes watching the cameras to give us the potential to spot incidents."
