'Illegal workers' caught in Droitwich after raid

Two men from Bangladesh have been found working illegally in Droitwich, according to the UK Border Agency.

Officers from the immigration team for West Mercia and Warwickshire caught the men during a raid at a restaurant in the town.

They found a 35-year-old who had entered the UK illegally and a 22-year-old who had overstayed his visa.

The restaurant faces a fine of up to £20,000 unless it can prove the correct pre-employment checks were carried out.

Officers from the UK Border Agency said they were working to remove both men from the country.

Immigration Officer Nam Kalsi said: "Those who use and exploit illegal workers face severe financial penalties, over and above the loss of business and negative publicity that enforcement visits like this cause."
