Oak tree near Ross-on-Wye 'struck by lightning'

Tree surgeons are planning to fell an oak tree in Herefordshire believed to have been struck by lightning.

A crew from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called to a farm in Hom Green, near Ross-on-Wye, at about 06:15 BST.

Watch Commander Neil Fowler from Hereford and Worcester Fire Service said: "The tree was severely damaged and around 30m of hedgerow and fencing were also destroyed."

No-one was injured in the incident.
