Neighbour helps man who fled Stourport fire

A man who collapsed after escaping from a burning house was pulled to safety by a neighbour, it has been revealed.

The man managed to flee the house in Elm Grove, Stourport-on-Severn, after fire broke out at 08:40 BST.

But he collapsed in the garden and was moved to safety by a neighbour.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said that after the man was dragged away from the property he was placed in the recovery position.

The victim was given oxygen and taken to the Worcestershire Royal Infirmary.

West Mercia Police said a man had been arrested in connection with the fire and was being held in custody for questioning.
