A Herefordshire teenager has secured himself an internship at a fashion house based in New York.

Ed Curtis, 19, from Clehonger, will spend three months at Marc Jacobs working on the designer's collection for next autumn and winter.

He said: "To go there and experience what they're doing is an amazing opportunity."

Mr Curtis is studying for a BA Fashion Design and Technology in Womenswear at London College of Fashion.

He finished the National Diploma Art and Design course at Hereford College of Arts last year and will fly out to New York in January.

Mr Curtis, who has wanted a career in fashion since the age of 14, will be working full-time in the production department.

He said he approached Marc Jacobs because of both the designer's reputation and location.

"The skills I learn there will help me loads in my final year for when I'm making my final collection and will help build contacts.

"I've never been to America and just want to visit another part of the world as well."
